Wedding Reception Songs - The Ceremony
Posted on | February 2, 2012 |
Every ceremony is different so here is a list of the different songs and what they are used for. You can pick and chose what works for you. If you find a song here that you want to use when you cut your cake, it’s perfectly alright.
Prelude songs are the songs that will be played as your guests arrive and are seated, before the start of the actual ceremony. Everyone has a different time length, but typically about 6 songs are chosen for this time. Classical music is traditionally the music of choice, but the possibilities are endless.
Processional songs come next. Right before the actual ceremony starts your important guests are seated, like parents and grandparents and other immediate family. When these people are to walk down the isle to take their seats the processional songs start playing. These songs will also play as the members of your bridal party walk down the isle.
Bride Entrance song, this one is fairly obvious. The start of this song usually signals the guests to stand as the bride is escorted down the isle.
Interlude songs are played through out the wedding ceremony and during the lighting of unity candles.
Recessional songs are the songs that play at the end of the wedding ceremony as the bridal party leaves, usually to form some sort of receiving line.
Postlude songs signify the end of the ceremony and play as the guests leave the wedding ceremony area.
