Wedding Reception Sites - 3

Posted on | March 23, 2010 |

I know this may sound obvious, but don’t be afraid to ask questions.  Don’t be afraid to question the people who are advising you either.  While they do this for a living and know a lot about planning a wedding, they don’t always know what is best for you.  They also may not always have you best interest at heart.  Sometimes the more they get you to spend, the more money they make.  Not always, but just keep that in mind.I only have one last site to talk about, and that would be getting married in someones house.

Private homes - Getting married at home or at someone elses home is a nice alternative as well.  Depending on how fancy you want to go it can be a great way to get married and have a great party on a tight budget.  Just remember if you have to rent tent’s, floors, tables, dishes, glasses, silverware, linens, etc… add it all up and make sure you are saving money before you make your decision.  The time and effort you put into a do it yourself wedding is great, but it’s stressful so you want to be sure it is worth it.

No matter where you choose, I would strongly advise that you have a hotel nearby for your guests to stay at (especially if it’s a night wedding or drinking is involved).  Many hotels offer some sort of shuttle service that your guests can take back and forth.  Sometimes they include it when you block off a certain amount of rooms and sometimes they charge a small fee.  It is very worth it.  It is convenient and easy and your guests will appreciate it.

While considering your budget, make sure you factor in all the extra things you need to pay for if you choose a hall that is not full service.  Will you need tables, chairs, decoration, dishes, glasses, silverware, catering, etc….  Make sure you are saving a significant amount of money by putting everything together yourself.  If you are talking about a small amount more per person, seriously consider a hall that does weddings on a regular basis.  The amount of work and time involved may not be worth doing it yourself  it in the long run.

Here are some links to get information on wedding sites near you.  These are just some links I came across and wanted to share, so I don’t know if they will give you the best information. Be sure to check into all the options we have talked about here before you make your decision.
