Wedding Reception Sites - 2

Posted on | December 30, 2011 |

I want to stress you can get married anywhere you like.   I’m sure there are some great places I’m forgetting about right now (let me know if you find some!).  I really want to make sure I cover the basics.  So lets continue with some more wedding sites, how about at a hotel?Hotels - These are always a great alternative, especially if you have a lot of out of town guests or a big drinking crowd.  Most hotels have big banquet rooms that you can hold your reception in.  While they do hold weddings, they accommodate many other events as well.  Depending on the hotel you are looking into make sure you are aware of any other events that will be going on at the same time.

Restaurants - If you are looking for a smaller more intimate wedding a restaurant may be the perfect place to hold your event.  You can rent out the entire restaurant or a portion of it.  Many even have private rooms for special occasions that are big enough to hold a small DJ and dance floor.

Bed and Breakfast/Old time Inn - These have been gaining in popularity with people wanting a small intimate wedding.  Many of these bed and breakfast Inns are located in beautiful areas, on the beach, lake or with beautiful gardens.  Beautiful places to hold your ceremony outdoors.  They then serve a great dinner and you can have dancing as well.  I was at one at the Jersey shore and it was beautiful.  The bride and groom were married in a church and the reception was at a huge old house that was converted into a bed and breakfast Inn.

It had a wrap around porch where guests were able to have cocktails and the beach was right across the street.  The bride and groom were able to get lovely pictures and the inn served a fabulous meal.  Then the immediate family along with the bride and groom stayed at the Inn.  The down side is that they don’t have a lot of rooms at these types of places so the rest of the guests had to stay elsewhere (not really a big deal).  Every place is different, do your research so you know what you are getting into.
