Wedding Favor Ideas

Posted on | January 23, 2010 |

p1115_sh Wedding favors have been a tradition for a long time.  It is a custom to present your guests with a gift to thank them for coming.  A keepsake to remember your wedding by.   These days your options are limitless, with so much to choose from.

Typically,  or maybe it is better to use the word commonly, crystal or silver in a variety of forms  are given as favors to take home.   Let’s address the pink elephant in the room right away.  Many people consider wedding favors to be dust collectors.  I will be the first to admit that I am one of them.  Little trinkets are lovely and a nice gift, but in reality it’s one more thing to find a place for and dust.  You feel obligated to keep them, especially when they are from someone you love.

Today’s brides and grooms are changing this idea by giving more creative, useful gifts.  Now I’m not saying you can’t give little trinkets,  they are always nice and people do use them.  I’m just saying consider all your options and don’t be afraid to think outside the box.  Supporting Humanitarian causes or charities in lieu of favors has also become popular.  While that is a wonderful idea, it is sometimes nice for guests to take a little something home with them.

If you can’t find an item you really want to give as your favor you can choose multiple, smaller, less expensive favors.  If you have the budget you can choose a larger item as your big gift and then scatter the table with smaller items.  This works really well if you find a nice gift that’s not personalized to your wedding and want to have some personalized items to hand out as well.
