Wedding Colors

In the past there were certain colors that would never have been used in a wedding theme, but in this day and age there are no wrong colors. What you may want to pay attention to is picking the right color for the right season.
Pastel colors work great in the springtime. Summer time weddings can be a little more daring and use bold, bright colors. Fall is typically autumn hues as well as metallic. Winter are deeper eggplant, emerald, dark blue colors. While winter is also popular for black and white themes, black and white can be used all year long.
Once you pick your basic color theme, then you need to decide if you want accent colors and if you do which ones. A great example is a black and white wedding. While elegant on it’s own, you can throw in some pink and/or silver to really make it pop. You can add an accent color in anywhere (or everywhere) to tie everything together.
Lets continue with the idea of a black and white wedding with pink and silver accents. If you pick black bridesmaid dressed you can accent the dress itself with a pink or silver sash/belt. Or if you want to keep the dresses simple use pink flowers or ribbons for their bouquets. On the tables you can accent the black and white theme with napkins, favors or the centerpieces.
If you have an engagement party or bridal shower you can incorporate the wedding colors as well. This takes a little more organization and planning, but I have a few friends that are really into themes and matching and kept at least a basic color theme throughout. It is also a great way to start with a basic color theme and use different accent colors depending on the occasion.
There is really no limit of how much or how little color you use. You don’t want to have your colors clash or go to over board, but don’t be afraid to experiment with what you like. Your color scheme will be an important part of your wedding, it will live on forever in your pictures and memories so be sure to spend a little time choosing the right one for you.
