Homemade Wedding Favors

If your budget is tight, or you just want a personal feel, homemade wedding favors are a great choice. You don’t have to be crafty either. Just visit your local craft store to find loads of ideas and the materials to make them.
Now if you are doing this because your budget is tight, make certain you are not spending a lot on your supplies. You can easily loose track of how much you are putting into a favor, especially if you buy things from different places.
That said, there are lots of very fun, frugal way to make a favor. One cute favor is to put Hershey’s kisses into bags or boxes with a label that says “Hugs and kisses from the Mr. and Mrs.”. Chocolate covered pretzels are also a great idea. You buy the big pretzel rods and dip them into melted chocolate (white, dark, milk or a combination) and roll them into a topping of your choice like sprinkles or chocolate chips. You can even drizzle a different color chocolate over them. Wrap them in plastic bags and decorate.
Chocolate spoons are also a fun way to go. You can buy plastic spoons that match your color scheme, then you dip them into melted chocolate. To make them really great, let the chocolate dry on the spoons and dip them again. You can also sprinkle sugar crystals or marshmallows on the front of the spoon. Again, package them nicely and your guest can use them in hot chocolate or coffee.
Votive, candles, sand and shells can make some amazing favors. You can glue the shells and or sand to the outside of the glass votive, or use them to cushion the candle inside. If you like to sew, scented sachets with a wedding label are really nice. Jordan Almonds simply tied up in tulle are always a hit as well.
Seed packets have become popular too. You can buy seeds in bulk, and then use your imagination to package them into a pretty favor. I’ve seen inexpensive buckets that you can put the seeds into and make a really cute favor out of .
Another popular favor is to bake a bunch of different types of cookies. Many couples set them on a table with boxes or bags and as your guests leave, they pick the cookies they want and place them in their box/bag. I prefer to prepackage the cookies and just have your guests grab a box as they leave, but it’s your call. I just hate the idea that the last guests to leave have crumbs left to choose from.
