Cupcake Wedding Cakes

Cupcake wedding cakes can be a great idea, especially for theme or holiday weddings. They have become a very popular alternative to wedding cakes. There are many reasons to have a cupcake wedding cake and I can understand their appeal.Cupcake wedding cakes can be made to be fancy or fun, whimsical or even to fit a wedding theme. They can be less expensive then a traditional wedding cake, yet just as nice or even nicer. You have more options when you are using cupcakes.

You can use different colors. You can use or buy cupcake trees to display your cupcakes. You can use different trees to hold different colors and or flavors. You can have all different flavors for your cupcakes, chocolate, vanilla, lemon, carrot cake, there are a lot of possibilities. You can use a few different flavors or a whole bunch, and you can use different frosting (flavors and colors) as well.

If you are trying to do a lot yourself, cupcake wedding cakes can be a great project. You can use regular cake mix from the grocery store. Very inexpensive, especially with sales and coupons. You can purchase the icing the same way. If you have storage space you can make the cupcakes ahead of time and freeze them until you are ready to decorate. The best way to freeze them is in air tight containers, but you can make use of freezer bags as well. Just be sure not to squish them together. It would be a shame to do all that work just to pull them out of the freezer and find they are uneven and lumpy.

Go to your local craft store and invest in a cake decorating kit. It will give you all the tools you need to learn some fancy decorating. You can also buy embellishments that make your cupcakes look really special. Decorate a cupcake holder tree to your liking and you are all set. There are lots of inexpensive, nice ones out there. I just found some at Target that were $15.00 each.
