Beach Wedding Cakes

beachcake

My cousin and his wife renewed their wedding vows and they had a beach theme reception.  They wanted a cake that was a little more formal, yet matched with the theme.  She kept it simple by just scattering a few shells around, but you could really make a statement if you want.

It came out beautiful right?  It’s a smaller cake, as they had a smaller party.  You get the idea though and you can make the cake any size you want.  Most of the examples of beach cakes are more formal, but there are lots of fun ideas you can incorporate as well.

If you have chosen a theme wedding you  have already thought outside the traditional wedding, so don’t be limited with you cake choice either.  You can pick a variety of styles for your cake, round, square, layered, sheet, anything is game.  Depending on the size of your wedding you can have individual cakes, or even cupcakes.

If you live near the emerald coast in Florida take a look at these great cakes they make at CakesbyTanis.

Stunning.  Beach wedding themes are my favorite wedding themes.  You can do so much with everything and your cake choices are no exception.  You can even incorporate tropical tastes if you are daring enough.  Having two or three smaller cakes is a great way to accomplish this.  You can have the cakes match in terms of decoration, but incorporate tropical flavors like coconut or pineapple.  Have each one a different flavor and give sample slices on each plate, or let guests pick there own.

Any place you go to for your wedding cake will have lots of samples and examples of beach themed cakes.  It’s just like anything else in planning your wedding.  You will have lots of choices and you just need to choose what works best for you.

Keep in mind that cakes don’t do well in the sun.  They can melt and go bad rather quickly.  If you are having your wedding outdoors, be sure to make special arrangements for the cake(s) to be stored in a cold place away from the sun.
