I know everyone wants the perfect wedding, but that definitely doesn’t mean having to spend a fortune.  You can create centerpieces for less then $10.00 each if you want to!  First you need to figure out what kind of centerpiece you want.  Flowers, candles, stones, pillars - the options are endless.  Once you start planning you need to visit craft stores.  Michael’s, Joannes fabric, AC Moore, whatever you have near you.  The larger stores seem to have more items to choose from and more samples to look at. I know that I have talked about dollar stores in other posts, but I was just at one the other day and felt the need to remind you about it.  I was there to pick up a few things and, as I do whenever I am shopping, I checked around to see what would be good to use at a wedding. Read more

I just wanted to add a quick post about David’s Bridal.  I have been seeing commercials all over the place on the great sale they are having right now.  If you haven’t checked them out for your wedding dress you should.  They really do have some beautiful dresses and you can’t beat their prices.  They also have lots of other wedding apparel and items.  Bridesmaids dresses, mother of the bride dresses, flower girls etc….  It is definitely worth a trip just to see what they have.

Theme Weddings

Posted on | February 23, 2010 | No Comments

I was recently a part of a great theme wedding.  It was a Halloween theme.  If you decide to do any kind of theme wedding, or non-traditional wedding, make sure you do what makes you happy.  You will never please everyone and you will find all kind of people putting in there two cents.  Take it all with a grain of salt and as you make decisions there is only one question you need to worry about.  Will it make you happy.  In 5, 10, 15 years from now when you and your husband look back on this special day will you have great memories?  If the answer is yes, that is all that matters. Choosing your wedding cake topper is a lot of fun.  It is one of the few things associated with your wedding that you will not only be able to keep forever, but can display somewhere in your home.  You can put it out it in many places, a curio cabinet, on a shelf or even just on a dresser.  It is a nice reminder of the wonderful night you had at your wedding. Wedding Program

01110119Wedding programs are not for everyone.  Don’t feel that you must include them in your wedding.  They are an extra cost and can be one more thing that must be done to add to your stress level.  That said, they can also be a nice touch to your nuptials.  You can include everyone in a program and your guests are able to preview the ceremony that is to come.  It is a little gesture that can put a smile on the face of your loved ones, and is a great way to acknowledge them and what they have done for you. Wedding Reception Sites

When it comes to choosing the place to hold your wedding there are lots of options and factors to consider.  Make sure you visit at least a few places, I’d say between 5-10 minimum.   Tour the facility, have a taste test, get a detailed report of what they offer.  Then you need to compare the pros and cons of each.  Obviously your budget will have the greatest impact on where you choose, but location, convenience, services offered as well as many other things need to be considered. Wedding Blog - create your own (part 2)

Posted on | January 29, 2010 | No Comments

Once you have decided between Blogger and WordPress you need to chose a blog address.  You can choose any type of name you want, as long as it’s not taken already.  They will let you know right away if it is.  If I was creating one for myself I might choose the name “Tracy getting Married” or “Tracy and Charlie tie the knot”.  You can use something more generic if you want to continue blogging after your wedding is over.  I might pick something like “The life of the Westins” or “The Westin Journey”.  Read more

Wedding Plan - Guest list

Posted on | December 28, 2009 | No Comments

The next thing you want to figure out is your guest list.  It doesn’t have to be perfect, but you want to have an accurate guide to how many guests you will be having.  You also need to let your parents, in-laws, or other important people involved know if they can invite everyone they want or if they need to pick only close family and friends.  Better to get somethings out in the open early on as well.  If you and your significant other are planning a small intimate wedding and the parents are thinking something more elaborate, the sooner you reach an agreement the better.
